DAF Direct is a secure web application that enables donors to initiate grant recommendations from their donor-advised fund (DAF). It integrates with Schwab Charitable, Fidelity Charitable, and BNY Mellon.

How to use DAF Direct:

  • The above button will bring you to Upstream’s DAF Direct page, where you can select your DAF and if you would like to designate your grant to any of Upstream’s specific projects (like the Grand Canyon).

  • Once you click “Next,” you will be taken to the login page of your DAF at the selected sponsoring organization.

  • Upon logging on, your DAF Direct grant specifications are pre-populated to allow for a simplified process. You will then complete the grant recommendation in your DAF.

  • Once completed, you can either log out of the account or can return to DAF Direct to make another grant recommendation to Upstream.

  • Once the grant recommendation is made, it will go through the sponsoring organization’s normal grant review process.

Gifts of all sizes make a difference at Upstream.

Invest in solutions to make throw-away go away

When you donate to Upstream, you are directly supporting innovative, first-in-North America solutions, including Upstream's work at the Grand Canyon National Park designing and implementing the nation's most comprehensive reuse ecosystem — shifting food & beverage throughout the South Rim from single-use to reuse for dine-in and takeout.

“The team at Upstream is a wealth of knowledge and expertise when it comes to reuse. Cities are on the front lines of the global plastics crisis and need real, tangible solutions to make reuse a reality. We’re grateful to be working alongside such leading thinkers as we strive to deploy sustainable solutions”.

Putting all of what you give to work

We have low overhead. As a band of disruptive innovators working remotely across the country, your donations don't pay for bricks & mortar - they pay for brains & action.

We communicate efficiently. We do not fill your mailbox with expensive and wasteful printed materials you never requested in the first place.

We have proven effective strategies: We’re the Johnny Appleseed of Reuse. We seed solutions across the country and support those making the change on the ground with open-source, free resources, expertise and networks to scale the solutions at an accelerated pace. We leverage our position as plastic pollution and reuse thought leaders to engage decision makers across business, NGOs and government to build a new reuse economy.

We use our resources wisely. We raise money as efficiently as possible. We don’t host lavish, expensive, and time-consuming events. We focus on the lowest overhead/highest return strategies to keep your money where it is needed most.

We are transparent. See our Platinum Seal of Transparency on GuideStar, our 2023 Form 990 and our 2023 Impact Report.

Thank you for your support!
