Green Sports Alliance: WM Phoenix Open

WM worked with a third-party service to pilot reusable beverage cups in select hospitality suites. Starting with a smaller, enclosed location allowed for a great degree of control and opportunity to monitor and adjust for user behavior. WM placed signage and designated bins around the venue to make it easy for fans to return the cups after use, at which point the service provider washed and prepared them for reuse off-site. The bins used were fitted with digital technology that recognized the reusable cups and rejected unwanted materials. The team also purposefully designed the cups with a more minimal look, as a previous attempt at reusables showed that if cups look like souvenirs, fans are more likely to take them home.
